No Plague Found in Letters Sent to Chalon-sur-Saône School
Authorities in Saône-et-Loire have confirmed that letters containing a white powder sent to the Colint School training center in Chalon-sur-Saône did not pose a biological threat. Initial tests indicated the presence of plague, leading to an immediate response from health and safety officials. However, subsequent analyses conducted by the Croix-Rousse hospital laboratory in Lyon revealed a negative result for the plague, alleviating concerns about any biological risk.
The situation unfolded on Wednesday when several envelopes from abroad arrived at the school, which specializes in digital professions. One envelope contained a white powder that tested positive for the plague, prompting the hospitalization of six employees who were exposed to the mail. Fortunately, no symptoms have been reported among those affected, and they have since been released from medical surveillance at the Chalon-sur-Saône University Hospital (CHU).
The prefecture of Saône-et-Loire took the incident seriously, activating a monitoring unit to coordinate the response and ensure the safety of the school community. A press conference was held to provide updates on the situation, emphasizing that there is currently no biological risk associated with the letters.
