16-Year-Old Charged with Rape of Octogenarian in Isère
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the rape and robbery of an 84-year-old woman in Pont-de-Claix, Isère. The incident occurred on October 23, 2024, when the teenager allegedly entered the victim's home without breaking in, threatened her, and stole valuables before committing the assault. The Grenoble prosecutor's office confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody following a significant judicial operation on December 17, 2024.
The prosecutor, Éric Vaillant, stated that the minor, who was previously unknown to law enforcement, has admitted to the crime and has been placed in pre-trial detention. In addition to the 16-year-old, a 17-year-old accomplice was arrested in Cannet-des-Maures, Var. This individual is already known for previous fraud offenses and is suspected of acting as a lookout during the crime.
Furthermore, the 17-year-old's father, who is believed to have instigated the robbery, was also apprehended shortly after in Var. All three suspects have been indicted, with the two older individuals placed under judicial supervision.
