Météo-France has issued an orange alert for strong winds affecting six departments in central-eastern France starting Monday, November 25, 2024. This follows a similar alert for the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, which has been under orange alert since Sunday, November 24, 2024. The departments under alert include Puy-de-Dôme, Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Loire, Haute-Loire, and Rhône, with expected wind gusts reaching up to 120 km/h in certain areas. The alert is due to the influence of the Bert depression, which has already caused significant weather disruptions in the UK and Ireland, including power outages and transport issues.

The strong winds are anticipated to peak during the early hours of Monday, with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h reported in the Massif Central and extending towards the south of Lyon. Météo-France has indicated that while the winds will weaken throughout the day, vigilance remains crucial as conditions can change rapidly. Additionally, 55 departments will be under yellow alert for windy conditions, reflecting the widespread impact of this weather system.
