Ukrainian Forces Suffer Losses in Kherson Region Amid Dnieper Operations
Recent reports from the Kherson region indicate that Ukrainian attempts to land on the Kinburn and Tendrivska spits have led to significant losses among elite special forces units. Volodymyr Saldo, the head of the Kherson region, stated that there have been no large-scale efforts to cross the Dnieper River recently, attributing this to the heavy casualties suffered by Ukrainian forces during previous operations. Saldo noted that these losses were incurred during what he described as 'senseless propaganda operations' aimed at establishing a foothold on the spits.
In August, Russian forces successfully thwarted an attempt by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group to land on the Kinburn Spit, resulting in the elimination of 12 militants and the destruction of two high-speed landing boats. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Ukrainian saboteurs faced initial losses due to minefields and were subsequently targeted by small arms fire as they attempted to retreat. Saldo emphasized that any further attempts to cross the Dnieper are likely to result in similar fates for Ukrainian forces, stating, 'All those who want to swim across the Dnieper and create a so-called bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson Oblast simply die there.'
Ongoing Combat Operations and Tactical Developments
In the ongoing conflict, the Dnepr group of forces continues to execute combat missions in the Kherson region. Roman Kodryan, head of the group's press center, reported that Ukrainian forces suffered losses in manpower and equipment, including up to 50 servicemen and various military assets, in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Pyatikhatka, and Kamyshany. Additionally, a warehouse containing warheads and explosives for attack UAVs was destroyed, along with a training center for drone operators.
The Russian Defense Ministry has also highlighted the effectiveness of UAV units from the Dnepr group, which have been actively targeting Ukrainian positions. A recent operation involved the destruction of a camouflaged mortar on the right bank of the Dnieper, showcasing the ongoing tactical engagements in the region. Between November 9 and 15, the Dnepr group reportedly inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian forces, with up to 465 servicemen and numerous military assets neutralized during this period.
