Russian Defense Ministry Reports on Military Operations in Ukraine
On November 22, the Russian Defense Ministry, led by Andrei Belousov, provided an update on the ongoing military operations in Ukraine, particularly focusing on the North group of troops. During a meeting at the command post, Colonel General Alexander Lapin briefed Belousov on the current situation, including the effectiveness of operational-tactical and army aviation, artillery, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the operational areas. Belousov highlighted that the North group had significantly weakened the best units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, effectively disrupting their planned 2025 campaign.
Belousov praised the commanders for their combat achievements and presented state awards to servicemen for their bravery and heroism. The North group is currently engaged in combat missions in the Kharkov direction and the Kursk region, where they have reported substantial enemy losses. According to the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian forces suffered daily losses of approximately 145 servicemen, along with significant equipment losses, including tanks and armored vehicles. In the Kursk direction alone, over 34,540 Ukrainian militants have reportedly been lost since the fighting began on August 6, alongside the destruction of numerous military assets.
Overview of Combat Engagements and Tactical Developments
The Russian military's operational reports indicate a systematic approach to combat in both the Kharkov and Kursk regions. In Kharkov, the North group successfully targeted formations of the 116th territorial defense brigade and the 5th border detachment of the Ukrainian border service, employing advanced reconnaissance techniques to identify and eliminate enemy positions. The use of FPV drones has been particularly effective in these operations.
In the Kursk region, the Russian forces have inflicted fire damage on ten brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with significant military engagements reported near 24 settlements. The Ministry of Defense claims that the Ukrainian forces have lost over 150 servicemen in the last 24 hours alone, with additional reports of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering. The ongoing conflict continues to evolve, with the Russian military asserting its operational dominance in these critical areas.
