Military Expert Critiques Israeli Army's Claims of Control
Brigadier General Hassan Juni, a military and strategic expert, has criticized the Israeli army's assertions regarding its control over the northern front, labeling them as unrealistic political propaganda. According to Juni, the Israeli army's claims of allowing freedom of movement for civilians in northern Lebanon do not reflect the actual situation on the ground. He emphasized that these statements are aimed at justifying military operations and boosting morale among the Israeli public, rather than depicting the true state of affairs.
Reality on the Ground: Resistance and Challenges
The Israeli army has been facing significant challenges in its operations within Lebanese territory, particularly in border villages. Juni pointed out that despite ongoing military actions, the Israeli forces have not successfully controlled any areas completely. The military's reliance on propaganda to showcase achievements contrasts sharply with the reality, where continuous strikes from Lebanese resistance groups, such as Hezbollah, have targeted Israeli military positions, even within Israel's own borders.
Escalating Conflict and Casualties
Since the escalation of hostilities on September 23, the conflict has resulted in substantial casualties, with official Lebanese reports indicating 3,445 deaths and 14,599 injuries, including many children and women. Additionally, approximately 1.4 million individuals have been displaced due to the ongoing violence. Hezbollah has been actively responding to Israeli strikes with missile and drone attacks targeting military sites and gatherings, highlighting the ongoing and escalating nature of the conflict.
