Erdogan's Response to Ankara Attack
In a decisive move following the tragic attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) in Ankara, which resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to 22 others, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan convened a high-level security meeting in Istanbul. This meeting took place shortly after Erdogan's return from the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, and was attended by key military and security officials, including Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Defense Minister Yasar Guler.
The attack, executed by two assailants armed with automatic weapons and explosives, was attributed to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a group designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey. In response to this act of violence, Turkish forces conducted airstrikes on 47 PKK targets located in northern Iraq and Syria, demonstrating Turkey's commitment to combating terrorism.
During the meeting, Erdogan emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and expressed gratitude to nations that have shown solidarity with Turkey in the wake of this incident.
