PKK Claims Responsibility for Ankara Attack

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) headquarters near Ankara, which occurred on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The PKK stated that the assault was executed by a male and female operative, according to reports from multiple news agencies. This incident has heightened tensions in the region amid ongoing conflicts involving the PKK and Turkish security forces.

President Erdogan's Response

In the aftermath of the attack, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the media while returning from the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. He disclosed that the assailants had crossed into Turkey from Syria. Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to combating terrorism, emphasizing that operations would continue until the PKK and its affiliates are eradicated. "Türkiye will continue its efforts to eradicate terrorism from its roots, and if that is in Syria, we will do what is necessary," Erdogan stated, highlighting the government's resolve to strengthen its defense capabilities.

Turkish Military Operations Intensify

Following the attack, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced targeted airstrikes against PKK positions in northern Iraq and Syria. The ministry indicated that these operations would persist as part of Turkey's broader strategy to neutralize threats to its national security. Additionally, the Turkish authorities confirmed that the perpetrators of the attack had been neutralized, with 22 others reported injured during the incident.
