The Qatari Silatech Foundation has made significant strides in promoting youth employment in Brazil through its ambitious initiative, "One Million Opportunities." Launched in November 2022, this program, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the international initiative "Generation Unlimited," has successfully secured jobs for 371,332 young individuals aged 14 to 29 in the private sector. This achievement underscores the Foundation's commitment to fostering economic empowerment and creating positive change in marginalized communities, particularly in densely populated areas like Chiradientes in São Paulo.
Skills Development and Community Engagement
Participants in the initiative have not only found job placements but also gained valuable skills through various training courses. Bahous notes that there is still resistance among youth regarding vocational courses, which hinders broader acceptance of such initiatives. Akiri, who has gained extensive knowledge in her field, desires to further her education to achieve her career ambitions.
