Qatar Advocates for International Action Against Israeli Aggression
In light of the escalating violence in Gaza and Lebanon, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, has urged for a decisive international stance to deter Israeli aggression in the region. During an interview with Qatar TV, he expressed that the ongoing situation in Gaza is unacceptable and called for collective action from the global community to halt the conflict.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized Qatar's commitment to achieving peace, stating that their efforts to negotiate an end to hostilities have faced significant obstacles, primarily due to Israeli resistance. He reiterated Qatar's priority of stopping the war in Lebanon, highlighting the country's extensive diplomatic engagement with Lebanese officials. While Qatar respects Lebanon's internal political processes, it remains focused on humanitarian efforts and conflict resolution.
Humanitarian Aid Efforts by Qatar
In response to the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the conflict, Qatar has initiated an air bridge to deliver vital supplies to Lebanon. A Qatari Air Force plane recently landed at Rafic Hariri Airport in Beirut, carrying essential medicines and shelter materials from the Qatar Development Fund. This is part of a broader initiative that aims to send ten planes filled with medical supplies, food, and other necessities throughout October.
The scale of the humanitarian impact is staggering, with official Lebanese reports indicating that Israeli airstrikes since September 23 have resulted in over 1,500 deaths and 4,471 injuries, many of whom are women and children. Additionally, more than 1.34 million individuals have been displaced due to the violence. Qatar's actions reflect a commitment to alleviating the suffering caused by the ongoing conflict and supporting the Lebanese people during this crisis.
