Qatar's Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon Amid Regional Tensions
In a significant move to support Lebanon amid escalating tensions in the region, Qatar has launched an airlift of humanitarian aid from Doha to Beirut. Minister of State for International Cooperation, Lolwah Al-Khater, announced the initiative during a recent meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. This aid aims to bolster Lebanon's civil and military institutions as the nation navigates challenging circumstances.
Call for International Action Against Israeli Arms
During her visit, Al-Khater condemned the ongoing violence against Lebanese civilians and called for the international community to take decisive action to halt the arming of Israel. She emphasized that the conflict has expanded beyond Gaza into Lebanon, urging for an immediate ceasefire and the cessation of military support to Israel. Her remarks echoed calls from various Arab leaders and international figures for a more robust response to the situation in Gaza and its spillover effects.
Support for Lebanon's Health Sector and Relief Efforts
The airlift will see ten planes delivering essential supplies, including medical equipment, food, and shelter materials, throughout October. Al-Khater reiterated Qatar's commitment to supporting Lebanon's national institutions and the health sector, highlighting the importance of humanitarian assistance in times of crisis. This initiative underscores Qatar's steadfast support for Lebanon's sovereignty and stability.
