Thousands of Palestinian students in the Gaza Strip are facing severe disruptions to their education due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, which began on October 7, 2023. The destruction of universities and targeting of academics have left many students unable to pay their tuition fees, halting their academic pursuits and dreams.
In response, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency has launched initiatives to support the educational system in Gaza for the academic year 2024-2025. This agency, established in 1998, aims to protect Arab and Islamic rights in Jerusalem and bolster the resilience of its people through funding programs in health, education, and housing.
Recently, the agency provided a financial grant to Al-Azhar University in Gaza, which suffered significant damage from bombings. This funding is intended to assist students at the King Hassan II College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, allowing them to continue their studies despite the financial burdens caused by the conflict.
Additionally, the agency has supplied Al-Azhar University with cloud servers and an integrated distance education platform. This technology will facilitate the transfer of academic records, ensure their safety, and provide access to recorded lectures for students. A budget of $400,000 has been allocated for these initiatives, which are part of Morocco's ongoing support for Palestinians in Gaza.
