Israeli Forces Conduct Raids in West Bank Towns Amid Escalating Tensions
Israeli occupation forces have intensified their operations in the West Bank, particularly in the town of Al-Mughayyir, located northeast of Ramallah. On Sunday, November 24, 2024, reports indicate that Israeli soldiers stormed the town, turning the residence of a local citizen into a military barracks. According to the head of the town council, Amin Abu Aliya, the forces detained residents in one room, raised the Israeli flag on the roof, and engaged in clashes with local residents who responded with stones.
The situation in Al-Mughayyir is part of a broader trend of increased violence in the region, with Israeli settlers also reportedly attacking Palestinian homes. This escalation follows a particularly violent incident last April, when settlers launched an attack on the town, resulting in gunfire and vehicle burnings.
In addition to the raids in Al-Mughayyir, the Israeli forces also targeted the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, where they assaulted women and detained a child temporarily. Reports from the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) indicate that a young man was injured by live ammunition during clashes in the village of Al-Fandaqumiya, south of Jenin. The Red Crescent Society confirmed that a 19-year-old was shot in the thigh amid the unrest.
The ongoing military actions in the West Bank coincide with the Israeli army's operations in Gaza, contributing to a rising toll of casualties. Official Palestinian data reports that since the beginning of the conflict, approximately 795 individuals have been killed and around 6,450 injured, highlighting the severe impact of the ongoing violence on the Palestinian population.
