Iraq International Book Fair Opens in Baghdad
The fifth session of the Iraq International Book Fair commenced on December 4, 2024, in Baghdad, showcasing the rich cultural landscape of the region. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, alongside key figures including the Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazim, and Ambassador Hussam Zaki from the League of Arab States. This year, the fair features over 350 publishing houses from 17 countries, highlighting the importance of literature and cultural exchange.
Cultural Solidarity with Lebanon
In a show of solidarity, the exhibition adopted the theme “From My Heart, Letters to Beirut,” reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by Lebanon. The fair includes dialogue sessions and discussions focused on Lebanese culture, featuring prominent Lebanese writers and artists. This initiative aims to foster connections and understanding among Arab nations through literature and shared experiences.
A Diverse Cultural Program
The Iraq International Book Fair is not just about books; it offers a vibrant cultural program that includes seminars, poetry evenings, workshops, and artistic performances. This year, the event aims to strengthen the cultural movement within Iraq and promote the works of Iraqi intellectuals. The fair will run until December 14, 2024, at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds, providing a platform for cultural dialogue and artistic expression.
