Hezbollah Responds to Israeli Threats Amid Leadership Change
Hezbollah's new Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, has been the subject of threats from Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, who implied a potential assassination attempt. In a recent statement, Mahmoud Qamati, deputy head of Hezbollah's political council, dismissed these threats as 'not frightening' and characterized them as a 'complete lie.' Qamati emphasized that the election of Qassem is not politically motivated but rather a continuation of the party's established leadership mechanism.
In response to claims by the Israeli army that Hezbollah has significantly diminished its missile capabilities, Qamati firmly rebuffed these assertions, stating that Hezbollah has not yet utilized its full missile capabilities. He noted that the group's missile stockpile remains substantial and can effectively target areas deep within Israel, with ranges extending up to 145 kilometers. Qamati's remarks come at a time when tensions remain high in the region, and he reiterated that Hezbollah is not engaged in any ceasefire negotiations, insisting that any discussions must occur only after hostilities cease.
