Hezbollah's Missile and Drone Attacks on Israeli Bases
Hezbollah's war media has released footage purportedly showing its fighters attacking Israeli military bases and barracks using missiles and drones. The operations reportedly targeted key locations, including the Shraga base north of Acre, the Ein Shemer base east of Hadera, and the Elyakim camp south of Haifa. The group claimed that these strikes were part of a 'complex operation' involving advanced weaponry.
The broadcast included imagery captured by settlers' cameras, documenting the flight of missiles and drones launched towards Israeli targets. Hezbollah stated that the Israeli military was unable to effectively respond to the aerial assaults, which flew over occupied Palestinian territories for an extended period. In a previous announcement on October 28, Hezbollah claimed to have inflicted significant casualties on the Israeli army, with over 90 soldiers reported killed and more than 750 injured since the commencement of the ground incursion into Lebanon.
Escalating Conflict and Casualties
The ongoing conflict has seen Hezbollah claiming to have destroyed various Israeli military assets, including 38 Merkava tanks, four military bulldozers, and multiple armored vehicles. The group also reported shooting down four Israeli drones during these engagements. The hostilities have escalated significantly since September 23, with Israel intensifying its military operations across Lebanon, including heavy air strikes on Beirut and a ground offensive in southern regions.
Following the outbreak of conflict in Gaza on October 7, 2023, Hezbollah has been actively retaliating against Israeli military installations and settlements, employing missiles, drones, and artillery to target areas within central Israel. This cycle of violence has raised concerns over the potential for a wider regional conflict, as both sides continue to engage in hostilities with increasing intensity.
