Hezbollah Mourns the Loss of Commander Ahmed Wahbi

Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, is in mourning following the assassination of its prominent commander, Ahmed Wahbi, a key figure in the Radwan Force. Wahbi, who was born on November 1, 1964, in Adloun, southern Lebanon, dedicated his life to the Islamic Resistance, participating in numerous military operations against the Israeli occupation. His leadership and military expertise were instrumental in shaping the capabilities of Hezbollah's forces.

Wahbi's military career began at the inception of the Islamic Resistance, where he quickly became known for his strategic acumen. He played a significant role in the 1997 Ansariya Ambush, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 12 Israeli soldiers. His contributions extended beyond the battlefield; he was also responsible for training new recruits and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Radwan Force, a unit he led from 2012 until his untimely death.

The commander was killed on September 20, 2024, when Israeli F-35 fighter jets targeted an apartment in the Jamous area of southern Beirut, resulting in the deaths of Wahbi, fellow commander Ibrahim Aqil, and 14 other fighters. This attack marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, further intensifying tensions in the region.
