Al-Qassam Brigades Launches Strategic Ambush Against Israeli Forces in Rafah

In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced a successful ambush on a convoy of Israeli vehicles in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip. According to a statement from the group, the ambush took place near a communications company, close to the Kuwaiti hospital. The fighters reportedly utilized two Shawaaz bombs to destroy a troop carrier, while also targeting two additional vehicles with a 105 Al-Yassin missile and a tandem missile.

This incident follows a series of intense confrontations between the Qassam Brigades and the Israeli army. Al Jazeera has aired footage of the aftermath, showing Qassam fighters seizing control of a military vehicle post-attack. The Israeli military confirmed that the ambush resulted in the deaths of four soldiers, including a female military doctor, and left five others injured. The attack was reportedly executed by detonating a highly explosive device planted in a building occupied by Israeli forces, followed by sustained gunfire from Palestinian fighters.

The Israeli army has indicated that Rafah is heavily fortified with over 14,000 booby-trapped houses intended to target soldiers, highlighting the intensity of the conflict in the region. Additionally, the Al-Quds Brigades, affiliated with Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli command and control center in the central Gaza Strip with guided missiles.
