Hamas Rejects Compromise Amid Ongoing Conflict
In a recent press conference, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri firmly stated that the land of Gaza remains Palestinian territory, dismissing Israeli claims of achieving their objectives. He emphasized that halting Israeli aggression is a top priority and declared that Hamas will not accept any agreements that do not alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and facilitate their return to their homes.
Abu Zuhri's comments come in the wake of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. The ICC has accused them of using starvation as a weapon of war and committing crimes against humanity, including murder and persecution. Abu Zuhri highlighted that the real challenge ahead lies in the international community's commitment to arresting these leaders.
The Hamas leader condemned the restriction of aid into Gaza, labeling it a war crime and a crime against humanity. He revealed that Hamas is working with international organizations and allied nations to expedite humanitarian assistance to the region. He also expressed gratitude to health workers in Gaza who continue their efforts despite the ongoing violence.
Call for Unity and Action from Arab Nations
Abu Zuhri criticized the Arab and Islamic world's response to the ongoing conflict, describing it as weak and ineffective. He urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to translate recent summit decisions into tangible actions to halt Israeli aggression. Additionally, he called on the outgoing Biden administration to take responsibility and pressure Israel to cease its actions against the Palestinian people.
He condemned the Israeli government's expansion of settlement policies in Jerusalem and the West Bank, asserting that such actions are blatant violations of Palestinian rights. Abu Zuhri reaffirmed that settlement projects will not alter historical truths, insisting that Jerusalem will remain the capital of Palestine.
In light of the ongoing struggles, he encouraged solidarity protests in support of the Palestinian cause, scheduled for November 30 and December 1, and called for increased demonstrations from Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and within Israel. He also urged the international community, particularly the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations, to confront Israeli settlement activities in the region.
