Hamas Leader Khaled Meshaal Declares Resurgence of Palestinian Resistance
Khaled Meshaal, the head of the Political Bureau of Hamas abroad, has made bold assertions about the movement's resurgence, likening it to a 'Palestinian giant' that is regaining its strength. In a recent interview, Meshaal emphasized that Hamas continues to recruit young fighters and manufacture a substantial portion of its own ammunition and weapons. This statement comes on the first anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood, a significant event in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Describing the current confrontations with Israeli forces as part of a broader struggle that has persisted for 76 years, Meshaal referenced the historical context of the 'Nakba' in 1948, when many Palestinians were displaced. He noted that while Hamas has faced challenges and losses over the past year, it remains capable of conducting ambushes and engaging in direct confrontations with Israeli military forces. Meshaal stated, 'The Palestinian giant and the Palestinian phoenix regain their health, thanks be to God Almighty.'
In a televised address commemorating the anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood, Meshaal characterized the operation as a significant response to Israeli aggression and called it a pivotal moment in the resistance's evolution. He affirmed that Hamas has retained its military capabilities and continues to manage its operations effectively, asserting control over the battlefield despite losses. Meshaal's remarks underscore Hamas's commitment to its strategy of liberation and resistance against what they perceive as occupation.
