Qassam Brigades Claims Responsibility for Deadly Jaffa Operation
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has claimed responsibility for a deadly operation in Jaffa that resulted in significant casualties among Israeli civilians. In a statement released on Wednesday, the group reported that the operation, executed by two fighters, Mohammed Rashid Misk and Ahmed Abdel Fattah Al-Haimouni, led to the deaths of at least seven Israelis and left 16 others wounded, some critically. The operation took place amid heightened security alerts in Israel, coinciding with a missile attack by Iranian forces on Israeli military sites.
The Qassam Brigades described the Jaffa operation as a 'heroic' act, asserting that their fighters successfully infiltrated Israeli territory, attacked an Israeli soldier, and carried out strikes in two locations within Tel Aviv, including a train station. This incident has raised concerns about escalating violence in the region, with the group threatening that more attacks will follow from various fronts in the West Bank.
In light of these developments, tensions between Israel and Palestinian factions continue to escalate, with the potential for further conflict looming. The group's statement emphasized that as long as Israel continues its military actions against Palestinians in Gaza, retaliatory actions will persist, leading to further casualties among Israeli civilians.
