Ceremony in Costa Rica Celebrates Anti-Corruption Efforts
On November 19, 2024, the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award ceremony took place in San Jose, Costa Rica, honoring individuals and organizations dedicated to combating corruption. The event was graced by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Costa Rica's First Vice President, Stefan Brunner Neipej. This prestigious award, established in 2016, aims to promote good governance and transparency globally, recognizing exemplary efforts in the fight against corruption.

The ceremony recognized winners across five categories. Dr. Mona Boushahin from Mexico received the Outstanding Achievement in Combating Corruption award. The Academic Research and Educational Materials category was awarded to Professor Robert Klitgaard from the USA and Professor Alberto Vannuchi. Dr. Rodrigo Arias Greo from Spain and Professor Elias Pantecas were honored for Protecting Sport from Corruption. Khadija Cherif from Tunisia won the Innovation or Investigative Journalism Award, while Gayo James Mboya from Tanzania and the Mejor Mexico Organization were recognized for Youth Creativity and Engagement in Combating Corruption.
