Traveler Arrested with Methamphetamine-Soaked Pajamas at Los Angeles Airport
In a bizarre case of drug trafficking, a 31-year-old California resident was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after customs officials discovered a pair of cow-themed pajamas and other clothing items soaked in methamphetamine. The incident occurred on November 6 when the suspect checked two bags destined for Sydney, Australia. Upon X-ray inspection, customs officers noted suspicious signs and proceeded to inspect the luggage.
Inside the suitcases, officials found over a dozen clothing items, including an adult onesie designed to resemble a cow. The garments were stiff and covered in a white powder, which later tests confirmed to be methamphetamine. In total, the clothing contained more than one kilogram of the illegal stimulant, with the overall weight of the soaked items reaching approximately 32.4 kilograms.
Federal prosecutor Martin Estrada commented on the case, stating, “Drug traffickers continue to find creative ways to smuggle dangerous narcotics for illicit profit.” The suspect has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, facing a potential prison sentence ranging from 10 years to life if convicted. Currently, he is in pretrial detention, with a trial scheduled for December 2, and bail set at $10,000.
