Train Collision in Egypt Injures 20 Passengers
In a recent incident, 20 passengers were injured in a train collision in Minya Governorate, located 240 km south of Cairo. The Egyptian Ministry of Health confirmed the accident on Sunday, October 13, 2024, and reported that 23 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to provide immediate medical assistance.
The injuries sustained by the passengers included bruises, abrasions, and external wounds. Nineteen individuals were transported to Minya General Hospital, while one was taken to Minya University Hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities from the collision, and medical teams are actively assessing the health conditions of those injured.
The collision resulted in the overturning of two train carriages into the Ibrahimiya Canal, prompting swift action from health officials. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, is closely monitoring the situation and has instructed his deputy, Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, to oversee the medical response in Minya.
