Dramatic Police Chase in Downtown Toronto
A dramatic incident unfolded in downtown Toronto on November 1, 2024, when two suspects driving a stolen Dodge Ram truck engaged in a chaotic chase that ended with a collision involving a police horse and three police patrol cars. The pursuit began when police received reports of the stolen vehicle traveling through Queen Street. Footage shared on social media captured the harrowing moments as the truck collided with a police horse named 'York' and rammed into multiple police vehicles while attempting to evade capture.
During the incident, an officer was injured and both the officer and the horse were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw expressed relief that there were no injuries to the public and praised the officers for their bravery in managing the situation. He stated, "Our officers do an incredible but often dangerous job to keep our city safe."
Charges Filed Against Suspects
Following a brief foot chase, the suspects were apprehended and charged with several offenses, including vehicle theft, injuring a police animal, endangering public safety, vandalism, and assaulting police officers with a weapon. Notably, both suspects had been out on bail prior to this incident. The police have closed Queen Street from Peter to John while they conducted their investigation.
