Three Men Sentenced for Goat Theft and Cruelty in Rennes
In a disturbing case that has drawn public attention, three men were sentenced to six months in prison for stealing and slaughtering a goat from the Écomusée de Rennes, located in Ille-et-Vilaine. The incident occurred during the night of November 4 to 5, when the trio, aged 21, 32, and 41, were found intoxicated after committing the act. According to city prosecutor Frédéric Teillet, one of the men slit the goat's throat with the intention of having a barbecue, citing hunger as their motive.
The men, who already had prior convictions for theft, violence, and road traffic offenses, admitted to the charges during their court appearance. They were charged with theft in a group and acts of cruelty resulting in the death of an animal. In addition to their prison sentence, they were fined €500, prohibited from carrying weapons for two years, and banned from entering the Ecomuseum for the same duration.
