Sudan and Iran Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Sudanese Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim recently concluded a significant visit to Tehran, where he met with Iranian officials to enhance trade and economic relations between Sudan and Iran. The discussions, which included key ministers from various sectors, focused on increasing cooperation in commercial, political, and media aspects. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collaboration in regional and international forums, highlighting a mutual interest in addressing common challenges.
During his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Ibrahim provided insights into the current situation in Sudan. He stressed the need for ongoing support and cooperation, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which he described as a major regional and international conspiracy aimed at undermining the nation’s stability. Both ministers agreed to establish a joint ministerial committee and a political consultation committee to facilitate further dialogue.
Initiatives to Boost Trade and Cooperation
The visit resulted in several key agreements aimed at bolstering economic ties. Plans were made to exchange visits of technicians from the Ministries of Finance and Trade of both countries. Additionally, the establishment of trade centers in each country was proposed, with a Sudanese trade center to be opened in Tehran and an Iranian center in Sudan. Furthermore, a joint Sudanese-Iranian company is set to be established to enhance trade activities between the two nations.
The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed support for Sudan, acknowledging the challenges the country faces and praising the recent successes of the Sudanese Armed Forces. He conveyed hopes for a swift resolution to the conflict, allowing Sudan to restore peace and security.
Community Engagement and Updates on Sudan's Situation
In a bid to connect with the Sudanese diaspora, Ibrahim also met with members of the Sudanese community in Iran, providing updates on the ongoing conflict in Sudan. He reiterated his confidence in the strength of the Sudanese army and the unity of the people in their fight against what he termed an existential threat. This meeting underscored the importance of international support and solidarity for Sudan during these challenging times.
