Sudan's Call for Global Support Amid Ongoing Crisis
Sudanese Foreign Minister Hussein Awad has emphasized the urgent need for the international community to support the Sudanese people during their current ordeal. As the Sudanese delegation, led by Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, participates in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Awad revealed that crucial meetings are planned with U.S. officials and other world leaders.
Al-Burhan's upcoming speech, scheduled for Thursday, September 26, will focus on the dire internal issues facing Sudan, particularly the ongoing conflict that Awad describes as an
highlighting its external regional dimensions. He insists that the world must recognize the situation in Sudan not merely as an internal conflict but as a broader crisis that requires global attention and action.
Awad stated, "It is time to address the global conscience to stand with the Sudanese people in their ordeal," underlining the importance of international solidarity. In addition to discussions with U.S. State Department officials, meetings with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, have also taken place, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and planning for reconstruction efforts post-conflict. Qatar's ongoing support for Sudan was acknowledged, with Awad referring to the nation's commitment to assist in various areas of development.
As the situation in Sudan remains precarious, the upcoming engagements at the UN General Assembly may prove pivotal in garnering the necessary support for Sudanese recovery and stability.
