Streamers Mobilize for Palestinians: A Major Fundraiser Event
Content creators continue to use their influence to benefit the Palestinian cause. This Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m., streamer Baghera Jones, followed by 600,000 people on Twitch, will launch a five-day live broadcast aimed at raising funds for the Palestinian population. 'All of these will go to Médecins du Monde to carry out actions on the ground,' she said in an announcement message published on X this Thursday. The influencer also announced that she will be accompanied by 'other streamer friends,' though their identities have yet to be revealed.
Streamers4Palestinians is a mobilization of streamers to help us respond to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and the West Bank. 'A big thank you to Baghera Jones and future participants!' replied Doctors of the World. Doctors from the NGO will also make an appearance on Baghera Jones' Twitch channel this Friday to explain 'their actions on the ground.'
In recent days, influencers have stepped up their actions to help the Palestinian people, who are suffering from famine and regular bombings by the Israeli army. This includes sharing stories and posts about the situation in Rafah, an area in the south of the Gaza Strip, and raising funds to help Palestinian families evacuate. Twitch has already served as a charitable tool in the past, notably with the Z Event, which allowed funds to be donated to several associations such as the Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders.
- Despite their isolation, the inhabitants of Kherbeit ed-Deir do not escape the violence of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, a territory **militarily occupied** by Israel. This violence is sometimes expressed in spectacular ways, such as raids by armed men in Palestinian villages, ransacking, and fires. Most often, however, it manifests as day-to-day harassment.
- The situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is part of a broader conflict, which recently escalated significantly after the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on October 7.
