Silent March in Memory of Nicolas
A silent march is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, in Romans-sur-Isère to honor 22-year-old Nicolas, who tragically lost his life during a shooting outside a nightclub in Saint-Péray, Ardèche. Organized by the Rugby Club Romans-Péage (RCRP), the procession will commence at Place Paulin Pailherey at 3 PM and conclude at the Albert-Donnadieu stadium, a significant location as it also hosted a previous tribute for another young victim, Thomas, who was killed in November 2023.
Details of the Incident
The shooting occurred around 2:55 AM on Friday, when a hooded assailant opened fire on a queue of approximately 800 patrons at Le Seven nightclub, which was hosting a Halloween event. Nicolas was critically injured in the head and succumbed to his injuries the following day. Two others were also injured in the attack. The shooter remains at large, and authorities are continuing their investigation to determine both the identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind this senseless act of violence.
Community Grief and Support
The Rugby Club Romans-Péage expressed their devastation on social media, mourning the loss of a young player described as a pillar of his family. Nicolas' mother, Gwladys Dumas, shared her heartbreak, stating, "Our hearts are broken and our family is devastated. We have lost our pillar." In response to the tragedy, an online fundraising campaign has been initiated to assist with funeral expenses. The mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, Marie-Hélène Thoraval, also expressed her condolences and confirmed the organization of the silent march at the family's request.
