Shark Attacks Surge in South Padre Island
Recent shark attacks on South Padre Island have raised concerns among residents and authorities. Over the Fourth of July holiday, four people encountered a shark, with two sustaining bites and another injured while attempting to help, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The victims were taken to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, and one was airlifted for further treatment.

In a related incident, a 21-year-old man was bitten by a shark while playing soccer in knee-deep water at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He was taken to a hospital, and his injuries were not life-threatening.
