The Russian military has intensified its strikes on Ukraine, claiming significant victories while Ukrainian forces continue to defend against attacks. Over 4,000 troops have reportedly been lost in the ongoing conflict, highlighting the high stakes of this war.

Between July 27 and August 2, the Russian military executed a series of 11 coordinated strikes using precision weapons and drones targeting critical military installations in Ukraine. This information was released by the Russian Ministry of Defense as part of its weekly military update. The Russian Armed Forces successfully targeted facilities within Ukraine's military-industrial complex that were involved in the production and repair of armored vehicles, as well as storage sites for attack drones. Additionally, the strikes hit ammunition depots, aviation weaponry, missile and artillery systems, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries.

In the course of the week, the North troop group of the Russian military reported significant successes, claiming to have inflicted heavy losses on various brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including mechanized, assault, and infantry units. Reports indicated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered casualties amounting to approximately 1,755 military personnel, alongside the destruction of two tanks and several armored vehicles, including those supplied by Turkey and the United States. Moreover, the Russian military claimed to have repelled 27 counterattacks from Ukrainian forces during this period.

The situation on the front lines has seen mixed developments, with Ukrainian forces managing to hold back Russian advances in certain areas while also conducting successful counter-strikes. Notably, a video shared by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense showcased the destruction of a Russian attack convoy by the 59th Motorized Brigade, highlighting Ukraine's ongoing defensive efforts. Despite the Russian military's claims of territorial gains, analysis from the Institute for the Study of War suggests that the Kremlin's operational capacity for a larger offensive remains limited, indicating a potential stalemate in the conflict.

As of the latest reports, the total estimated losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the week were around 4,020 military personnel, with substantial losses in armored vehicles and artillery systems. Russian forces also reported the destruction of numerous Ukrainian field ammunition depots and electronic warfare stations. The ongoing conflict continues to demonstrate the high stakes and heavy tolls on both sides, with the Russian military adopting a strategy of attrition to wear down Ukrainian defenses, while Ukraine remains committed to repelling the advances and maintaining its territorial integrity.
