Russia Invites North Korean Troops for Victory Day Parade in 2025
Russia has officially invited North Korean troops to participate in the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day parade scheduled for May 9, 2025, in Moscow. This invitation was extended by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov during his visit to North Korea, where he met with Chairman Kim Jong-un. The event commemorates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and is known for showcasing Russia's military strength.
The upcoming parade is expected to be a grand affair, especially as it marks a significant anniversary. Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova has indicated that efforts will be made to make this year's celebration the largest yet. Following the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, previous Victory Day celebrations have been scaled back, but this year’s event is anticipated to be different, with invitations extended to leaders from various countries, including Serbia, Slovakia, Vietnam, and Palestine.
