Russian Missile Attack on Myrhorod Airport
Seven Ukrainian military jets were destroyed in a missile attack carried out by Russian forces on Myrhorod airport. The attack, executed with Iskander-M missiles, targeted five Su-27 jets parked on the runway and two others that were under repair. Moscow's Defense Ministry released a video showcasing the bombing, which was also aired by Russian broadcasters. Despite Moscow's claims, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat acknowledged the attack but disputed the extent of the losses.
Drone Warfare Escalates in Western Regions
In a separate incident, Russia reported the destruction of 36 Ukrainian drones in overnight operations across western regions bordering Ukraine. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems neutralized 18 drones over the Bryansk region, nine in the Kursk region, and nine in the Belgorod region. Local governor Alexandre Bogomaz confirmed that the drones shot down in the Bryansk region caused no casualties or damage. Both Russia and Ukraine have increasingly utilized drones, including those equipped with large explosive devices, since the conflict began in February 2022. Ukraine has ramped up its drone attacks on Russian territory in 2024, targeting energy sites and border towns. Additionally, Moscow announced the capture of two more villages in eastern Ukraine, following the seizure of another locality the previous day.
