Qatar Urges Dialogue to Resolve Syrian Crisis
Qatar has reiterated its call for all parties involved in the Syrian conflict to engage in constructive dialogue to bring an end to the ongoing crisis. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, expressed this sentiment during a recent phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati. The discussions highlighted the need for cooperation between the two nations and addressed the latest developments in Syria, as well as the situation in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories.
The Qatari government is closely monitoring the escalating violence in Syria, particularly the recent clashes between the Syrian army and opposition factions. These confrontations have resulted in significant territorial changes, with opposition forces gaining control over key areas including Aleppo city, Idlib Governorate, Hama province, and parts of Homs and Daraa provinces. Qatar emphasized the importance of protecting civilians from the consequences of the conflict and reiterated its commitment to international legitimacy and Security Council Resolution 2254, which calls for a political solution to the crisis.
