Shift in Palestinian Resistance Tactics Amid Ongoing Conflict
Recent developments in the northern Gaza Strip indicate a significant shift in the tactics employed by Palestinian resistance factions against Israeli occupation forces. Military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna emphasizes that this change reflects Israel's ongoing struggle to effectively manage the conflict in the region.
In recent days, there has been a notable increase in assassination operations carried out by resistance fighters using bladed weapons at close range, resulting in numerous casualties among Israeli soldiers, including officers. A complex operation executed by the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, led to the deaths of three Israeli soldiers in Beit Lahia, where the fighters successfully infiltrated a house occupied by Israeli forces and freed several Palestinian prisoners.
This new style of fighting highlights the resistance's adaptability, utilizing the changing geography of the conflict zone to their advantage. Brigadier General Hanna notes that the absence of a traditional front line has transformed every street, room, and window into a battleground, complicating the Israeli military's operational strategy. Despite the presence of three brigades in the northern region, Israeli forces continue to face heavy losses.
The Palestinian resistance has also capitalized on the ruins of buildings destroyed during the ongoing conflict, using them as strategic positions for launching attacks. The situation is not limited to the northern Gaza Strip; recent reports indicate that the central region has also become a new battlefield, with the Israeli military confirming the deaths of three members of the Kfir Brigade.
Abu Obeida, a spokesperson for Al-Qassam, has stated that the fate of certain prisoners is contingent upon the movements of Israeli forces, suggesting that the resistance is employing a strategy aimed at leveraging military pressure to achieve political objectives.
