Gaza Resistance Adapts to Ongoing Conflict
Retired Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, a military and strategic expert, has highlighted the adaptability of Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing conflict with Israeli forces. In an analysis of the military situation, Al-Duwairi noted that the current battle in Beit Lahia represents a significant shift from previous confrontations, with Palestinian factions now engaging in combat in smaller, more agile groups.
Tactical Changes and Weaponry
Al-Duwairi explained that the resistance has maintained its core weaponry, including “Al-Yassin,” “Tandem,” and “TPG” shells, alongside increased use of stuffing for targeting Israeli forces. The destruction of areas like the Jabalia camp has necessitated a change in tactics, limiting the use of certain weapons due to the heightened risk to fighters. Recent reports indicate that the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, successfully sniped five Israeli soldiers in Beit Lahia, showcasing the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
Coordination Among Palestinian Factions
The expert also discussed the enhanced coordination among Palestinian factions, which was activated following the escalation of violence after October 7, 2023. This collaboration aims to unify efforts and optimize the use of resources, as evidenced by recent videos showing coordinated mortar fire against Israeli positions. Al-Duwairi contrasted Israel's approach to Gaza with its stance towards Lebanon, emphasizing that Gaza's status as an occupied territory influences Israel's military strategy and objectives.
