Increase in Resistance Operations in Northern Gaza
The recent surge in resistance operations behind enemy lines in northern Gaza has raised significant concerns regarding the effectiveness of tunnel networks utilized by the fighters. Military expert Major General Mohammed Al-Samadi highlighted that these operations indicate a resurgence of capabilities among the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and other resistance factions. Al-Samadi noted that the destruction caused by ongoing conflicts has inadvertently provided the resistance with opportunities to infiltrate and conduct operations against Israeli forces.
Al-Samadi elaborated that the rubble and concrete barriers resulting from extensive bombardments have created pathways for fighters to maneuver and strike at Israeli positions. Recent reports indicate that the Qassam Brigades have successfully targeted Israeli vehicles in areas such as Jabalia and Beit Lahia using anti-tank shells and explosive devices, showcasing their operational flexibility.
The military expert emphasized that the resistance remains resilient, leveraging local support to recruit and train new fighters. He pointed out that the Palestinian resistance has adapted by manufacturing its own weaponry and recycling materials left by the occupation forces. This adaptability allows them to reclaim control over areas previously vacated by Israeli troops, enabling them to launch surprise attacks from close range. Al-Samadi asserted that while the Israeli army requires substantial troop deployments to secure areas in Gaza, a small number of resistance fighters can effectively neutralize Israeli armored vehicles.
The ongoing conflict has seen significant casualties on both sides, with recent reports confirming the deaths of Israeli soldiers in clashes in northern Gaza. Israeli media outlets have reported that the resistance's tactics, including the use of underground tunnels, have led to increased fatalities among Israeli forces, further complicating the military situation in the region.
