Clashes Erupt in Nablus and Surrounding Areas Amid Israeli Raids
Israeli occupation forces intensified their operations in the occupied West Bank, particularly in Nablus, where they stormed the Askar al-Jadeed camp early on November 10, 2024. This operation followed earlier raids in Qalqilya and various towns around Ramallah and Bethlehem. Activists reported fierce clashes between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli forces, with incidents of explosive devices being used against the latter in the old city of Nablus.
The violence escalated as clashes were reported not only in Nablus but also in Kafr Askar and the town of Al-Mughayyir, where Palestinian youths confronted Israeli soldiers. Reports indicate that Israeli forces arrested at least two individuals in the village of Bir al-Basha, south of Jenin, during their extensive raids across the region. In Al-Khader, near Bethlehem, further incidents of violence were documented, including the use of tear gas by Israeli forces in Abu Dis, southeast of Jerusalem.
Fatalities and Injuries Reported During Escalating Violence
The situation in the West Bank has been dire, with reports of fatalities and injuries following the raids. On November 9, a young Palestinian man, Adham Zayed Ezzat Al-Masry, was killed during an operation in the town of Aqaba, Tubas, where Israeli forces had surrounded his family's home. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that Al-Masry was shot by occupation forces, and additional injuries were reported among civilians caught in the crossfire.
The Tubas Battalion, associated with the Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad Movement, claimed responsibility for confronting Israeli forces, stating that they had detonated explosive devices against military vehicles, leading to confirmed casualties among the Israeli troops. The Israeli army acknowledged the death of a gunman and several arrests in the area, as well as the confiscation of weapons. The ongoing violence has raised concerns about the humanitarian situation in the West Bank, with many civilians affected by the clashes.
