Moana 2 Dominates North American Box Office

The animated sequel "Moana 2" has made waves at the North American box office, grossing an impressive $52 million over the weekend. This brings its total earnings to $300 million since its release, marking a successful continuation of the beloved story of young Moana's adventures across the Pacific Ocean. Featuring the iconic voices of Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the film has captivated audiences and is a follow-up to the original 2016 hit that became the most-watched film of 2023 on streaming platforms in the United States.

In a competitive weekend at the box office, the musical adaptation of the Broadway play "Wicked" secured the second spot, earning $34.9 million, which brings its total to over $320 million. Starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, "Wicked" explores the backstory of characters from "The Wizard of Oz."

Ridley Scott's "Gladiator 2" landed in third place with $12.5 million, continuing to attract audiences nearly 24 years after the original film won multiple Oscars. Other films in the top five include "Red One," a holiday-themed film about the kidnapping of Santa Claus, which earned $7 million, and the Indian film "Pushpa 2: The Rule," which grossed $5 million.
