British actor Jude Law has hinted that his role as Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise may be coming to an end. In a recent interview with Variety, Law stated that Warner Bros. is shifting its focus from the Fantastic Beasts films to a new TV series based on J.K. Rowling's original Harry Potter novels. He mentioned that there are no current projects in the pipeline for him and expressed his enjoyment in portraying the character of Dumbledore, particularly after gaining insights from Rowling during their first meeting in 2017.

Law reflected on the character's depth, emphasizing Dumbledore's self-perception as a 'monster' and his bond with Newt Scamander, who values beings that others might overlook. The Fantastic Beasts series, which began in 2016, has seen a decline in box office success over the years, with the first film grossing $814 million, while its sequels saw diminishing returns, with the latest installment earning only $407 million.
