Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed Malaysia's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, stating that the country will not recognize Israel under any circumstances. In a recent interview, he expressed solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese people, urging them to remain steadfast against Israeli challenges. Ibrahim emphasized that Malaysia is actively working on a draft resolution to expel Israel from the United Nations due to ongoing Israeli actions against Palestinians, including attacks on civilians and hospitals.
During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru, Ibrahim voiced Malaysia's support for Palestine to U.S. President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, criticizing their silence on Israel's actions in Gaza. He accused Western nations of complicity in these crimes against humanity by ignoring the situation. Ibrahim also highlighted Malaysia's commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza and supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Ibrahim's government has taken concrete steps against Israel, including a ban on ships flying the Israeli flag and preventing vessels bound for Israel from loading goods at Malaysian ports, citing Israel's violations of international law. He concluded his remarks with a message of hope and support for the Palestinian and Lebanese people, encouraging them to continue their struggle for justice.
