The electoral silence phase began today, 24 hours before the voting date, under a new law that allocates 41 seats to political parties out of a total of 138 seats.
The elections are being conducted with the participation of 1,634 candidates, including both male and female candidates, across local and general party constituencies. The Independent Election Commission is overseeing the elections, ensuring a fair and transparent process. A total of 172 lists have applied for candidacy at the local level, with an additional 25 running for the general party constituency.
To ensure a smooth electoral process, over 61 organizations will monitor the elections, including approximately 700 observers from international missions and local entities. The Public Security Directorate has prepared a comprehensive security plan, deploying more than 54,000 officers to maintain order and protect citizens as they exercise their right to vote.
This election marks a significant moment in Jordan's democratic process, following the last parliamentary elections held in 2020, which were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Parliament of Jordan consists of two chambers: the Senate, appointed by the King, and the elected House of Representatives.
