Jain: From Global Singer to Olympic Torchbearer
Jain, the renowned singer behind the global hit 'Makeba,' is set to carry the Olympic torch in Paris. Known for her energetic performances and daily cardio routines during her summer tour, Jain views the stage as a sport. 'I consider the stage as a sport and I tend to jump and move,' she says with a smile. Her torch relay is scheduled for 1:54 p.m. on rue Linois, a moment she describes as a 'great privilege' and a unique opportunity to experience the Olympic spirit, which she believes brings together different cultures.
The Grand Arrival of the Olympic Flame in Paris
The arrival of the Olympic flame in Paris was marked by a grand military parade on July 14, relocated to Avenue Foch due to Olympic infrastructures at Place de la Concorde. The parade, which included 4,000 soldiers, celebrated both the Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the Liberation. President Emmanuel Macron, alongside Chief of Staff Thierry Burkhard, reviewed the troops before a series of performances paid tribute to French and allied forces. The parade featured 22 helicopters and various military units, culminating in the Olympic flame being escorted from the triumphal arch to the official stand by Colonel Thibault Vallette, a gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Free Concerts and Celebrations at Place de la République
Following her torch-bearing duties, Jain will transform into a hit singer during the free concerts at Place de la République, organized by Coca-Cola. The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will also feature performances by Mentissa and Ofenbach. Jain, who has lived in Paris for over ten years, often crosses this 'emblematic' place on her way to the studio. 'I consider myself more and more Parisian,' says the former art student. The concerts are free, but seats must be reserved through the Coca-Cola application, ensuring a memorable evening for all attendees.
