As the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris approach, a significant surge in fraudulent ticket sales has been reported. The National Cyber Unit (UNC), in collaboration with Europol and the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, has intensified efforts to combat these scams. Captain Étienne Lestrelin revealed that over the past week alone, ten fraudulent sites were identified, a stark increase from previous assessments. The total number of identified fraudulent sites has now reached 358, with many linked to Russian-speaking countries. Victims from various countries, including Mexico and Greece, have reported losses exceeding 1700 euros due to these scams.
Despite the challenges posed by ticket fraud, the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris promise an immersive experience for fans, even those without tickets.
