The Isère prefecture has issued a recall of several dozen cans of artisanal pork terrine following a suspected case of botulism. The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regional Health Agency (ARS) received a report on Thursday regarding a person who consumed the terrine and was subsequently taken for medical care. Analysis by the Pasteur Institute confirmed the presence of botulinum toxin and the bacteria responsible for botulism in the remains of the terrine. The recall affects products sold at the 'Chez Barbier' farm in Mottier, where the terrine was produced by EARL Les Peupliers. Authorities emphasized the importance of vigilance, urging consumers to consult a doctor if they experience symptoms such as blurred vision, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, or trouble speaking. Botulism, while rare in France, can be fatal in 5 to 10% of cases and is linked to improperly preserved foods.
