Iranian Foreign Minister Emphasizes Preparedness Amid Tensions with Israel

In a recent interview with Al Jazeera, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi articulated Iran's position regarding the escalating tensions with Israel, asserting that while Tehran does not desire war, it is fully prepared for any scenario that may unfold. He emphasized that Iran is ready to respond decisively to any aggression from Israel, stating, "We do not want war, but we are ready for it."

Araghchi highlighted that the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is the primary instigator of regional conflict, aiming to maintain power through provocation. He urged neighboring countries to avoid being drawn into Netanyahu's agenda while assuring that Iran will respond to any developments in the situation.

The Foreign Minister also addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the situation in Lebanon, reaffirming Iran's commitment to supporting resistance movements like Hezbollah. He underscored that Iran's support for these groups is unwavering, stating, "The idea of Tehran abandoning the resistance is completely incorrect."

Call for a Comprehensive Ceasefire

Regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon, Araghchi called for a comprehensive ceasefire, emphasizing that the decision on how to implement this ceasefire should be made by the Lebanese government and the resistance factions. He expressed a strong belief that stopping the war in Lebanon is a priority, and he conveyed Iran's readiness to support any decisions made by local leaders.

During discussions with Saudi officials, Araghchi noted a shared concern over the potential for escalating conflict in the region. He described these discussions as productive, focusing on the urgent need to halt the violence and prevent further civilian casualties.

Moreover, the Iranian Foreign Minister revealed that indirect communications with the United States continue through intermediaries like Switzerland, aimed at addressing the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Lebanon. He stressed that diplomatic efforts are essential in stopping the ongoing violence and ensuring the protection of civilians.

As tensions remain high, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that prioritizes peace and stability in the region.
