Blinken's Shuttle Tour and Regional Diplomacy

His discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are part of a broader effort to promote a stable transition in Syria, emphasizing the need for an inclusive government that respects minority rights. Blinken's visit follows his meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II, where he reiterated U.S. support for the stability of Syria's neighboring countries during this transitional period.
During his tour, Blinken has expressed the importance of preventing Syria from becoming a base for terrorism and ensuring that military equipment left by the Syrian army does not fall into the hands of extremists. He emphasized the need for cooperation among regional actors to avoid further conflict in Syria, highlighting Turkey's vested interest in maintaining stability in the region.
