Arab Ministers Call for Political Solution in Syrian Crisis
In a significant meeting held in Doha, foreign ministers from five Arab nations and representatives from the Astana track discussed the ongoing Syrian crisis, emphasizing the urgent need for a political solution. The meeting, which included the foreign ministers of Turkey and Iran, along with officials from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, highlighted the dangerous implications of the prolonged conflict for both regional and international security.
The ministers agreed that military operations must cease to pave the way for a comprehensive political process aimed at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people for security and justice. They underscored the importance of enhancing international efforts to provide aid to the Syrian population, as well as ensuring the voluntary return of refugees and displaced persons. The absence of the Russian foreign minister, who was represented by an assistant, marked a notable aspect of this meeting, which aimed to foster collaboration among key regional players.
The discussions also focused on preserving Syria's unity and sovereignty while protecting the nation from chaos and terrorism. The participants committed to ongoing consultations to find a viable political solution that aligns with the needs of the Syrian people.
