International Conference in Türkiye Highlights Need to Protect Jerusalem's Holy Sites
An international conference held in Istanbul, organized by the Turkish Nation Foundation, gathered representatives from 40 countries to address the urgent need to protect Islamic sanctities in Jerusalem. The event celebrated the foundation's 10th anniversary and emphasized Jerusalem's significance as a unifying axis for the Islamic nation.
The conference featured speeches from various Turkish officials and prominent figures from Arab and Islamic scholarly bodies. Sheikh Ahmed Al-Omari, trustee of the endowment, highlighted the foundation's efforts over the past decade, which include the construction of the largest advocacy complex in Jerusalem, restoration projects near Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the establishment of educational facilities for orphans and students.
Participants, including Sheikh Khaled Al-Madhkour, former Grand Mufti of Kuwait, reiterated the necessity of continued support for Palestine and the protection of Islamic sites. The closing statement of the conference underscored the importance of unity among the Islamic nation in addressing challenges, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.
The Waqf reported that it has implemented over 1,167 projects in Jerusalem, focusing on education, economic support, and community resilience against occupation policies. The Turkish Nation Foundation aims to provide ongoing support through educational, economic, and health initiatives for the people of Jerusalem.
